From our family here at Family Law Advocacy Group to yours, we would like to wish you a very happy holiday! We are honored to have served you or to potentially help you in the future. We understand that when it comes to family and your relationships, everything must be handled with the utmost care. We are grateful that our clients would choose us with the care of their family law needs.

At Family Law Advocacy Group, we understand how exciting the holidays are but how trying they can be, as well. It can be difficult to find a new rhythm after a divorce. With all of your family and friends descending to celebrate, there are some things you can do to make the most of these holidays.

Treasure New and Old Traditions

Whether it is going to your grandparent’s home for the holidays or whether it is your job to lick the icing off the spoon, traditions are the cornerstones for the winter season. It is what makes the holidays so special and fills us with so much nostalgia. For this Christmas and New Year, while you may be navigating the new life post-divorce, remember to cherish past traditions. However, do not be afraid to make new ones too!

Have Two Holidays

If you and your ex have children, it can be difficult trying to decide who gets the kids during the holidays. Needless to say, everyone wants to spend Christmas and New Years with those they love. However, this can be hard to do when you have to share your children with your ex. Rather than stress out about not having the family together on the actual day, you can simply plan to have two holidays. Choose a day either before or after the actual holiday and celebrate until your heart’s content. That way, no one feels like they were deprived.

Make Travel Plans in Advance

One of the most stressful parts of the holidays is traveling. Between trying to book tickets, planning who is staying where, and juggling your shopping list, the holidays can be a logistical nightmare. That is why making travel plans in advance can help you relax a little. By booking your plane tickets and hotels in advance, not only do you ensure you have a means to get where you need to go, you can also save money!

Be Flexible

Although it is important to plan in advance, you should also allow yourself to be flexible this holiday! Things can change unexpectedly and you should simply take things in stride, rather than worrying about things out of your control.

Focus on the Children

The holidays are made warmer by children. Whether you and your ex are amicable or have a tense relationship, your kids should always come first. Holidays are something they will remember years later, so try to make sure they have good memories to hold on to.

At Family Law Advocacy Group, we hope you continue to have a warm and happy holiday! We appreciate your support and trust and look forward to serving you in the future. If you do have questions about divorce, custody, or support, contact our San Bernardino family law specialist today.
